Our Issues

My Priority will always be for the People!

Platform:

Re-elect

Tiawana for Charlotte District 3

“My Priority is YOU.”

As The People’s Champ, I have a proven track record of being the voice of the people on Charlotte City Council. I’ve consistently voted in favor of our communities — not special interests — and I hold everyone at the table accountable to the people we serve.

Now, I’m running for re-election to continue putting your priorities first and keeping leadership honest, transparent, and focused.

My  Priorities

 1. Affordable Housing Access

As a member on the Housing, Safety Community Committee- Housing should never be out of reach. I’ve stood with residents to push for fair, inclusive housing policies — and I’ll continue to:

  • Support affordable and mixed-income developments

  • Expand homeownership opportunities for working families

  • Prioritize community voices in housing decisions

I’ve consistently voted with the people — because housing justice is community justice.

2. Transportation & Infrastructure

Fair & Functional CATS
I’ve advocated for  authentic transit access that actually works for working people.

My advocacy includes:

  • A more equitable, reliable, and rider-friendly transit system

  • Advocated for service for underserved neighborhoods

  • Advocating for funding that reflects our community’s needs-Championed the People's Budget-including
  • Animal Shelter Improvements- Independent of CMPD.

Fixing Steele Creek Traffic
You’ve demanded solutions, and I’ve delivered:

  • Advocacy for critical road improvements

  • Advocated for our city departments leaders to respond & make you a priority- to prioritize congestion relief

  • Advocated for community leaders to have access to Strategic planning to ease daily commutes and increase safety.

I hold city leadership accountable to fix what impacts the people daily.

3. Workforce Development & Public Safety

Empowering Our Communities & Echoing the Airport Workers voice through SEIU, the Union and strategic Partnerships.

I’ve fought & championed to increase opportunity for those historically left out by:

  • Investing in job training and youth development programs

  • Partnering with schools, local businesses, and nonprofits

  • Uplifting communities through education and outreach. Championed Youth Town Halls. Led by our youth to keep their voices at the Dias.
  • Community Engagement Town Halls
  • The State of our District Townhall- At Good Sheperd Church.

Safer, Stronger Neighborhoods

  • Advocated for community-first public safety policies

  • Pushed for transparency in law enforcement

  • Brought youth, leaders, and law enforcement to the same table- Youth Led Town Halls.

  •  I’ve used my seat to push for trust, transparency, and real community empowerment-to earn the name "The People's Champ.

My Ongoing Commitment to You-The People! Quarterly Town Halls & Community Resource Fairs
I’ve hosted regular town halls (outside the box) and community events because real leadership listens — not just during campaign season.

  • Open forums for  Youth, constituents and resident voices

  • Resource fairs to connect families with services

  • Direct access , and accountability from your elected leader

I’m not just a City Councilwoman — I’m your neighbor, your advocate, and your voice at City Hall.
